I have been exploring news ways to present my beloved watercolor paintings.  Some folks are cautious of artworks framed under glass and consequently overlook gorgeous watercolor paintings.  My artist friend, Helen Beacham has been Kamar varnishing her watercolor pieces and mounting them to birch wood panels for the last several years, and they look awesome.  She shared her techniques with me and I have decided to give it a go on some of my smaller works!  I like the look of contemporary pieces that are unframed, but I feel my particular pieces, especially scenes of Old Charleston,  look more finished in a frame, so I have invested in a few “Floater” frames in which the artwork appears to float.  There is still a hanging wire, but I also attached buffer pads so that the frame hangs flush with the wall, as opposed to hanging with the traditional slight tilt. 

     These pieces each are 8”x8”, in a 9.5”x9.5”x2.5” frame and are now on exhibit at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery, 160 East Bay St, Charleston, SC.  By the way, they do sell over the phone (Gallery Front Desk 843-722-2425) and have a local shipper to package and ship art!
